Description

This is my first real painting project. Obviously, this scene is after a famous painting from french master Gericault.

It started out with a composition of multiple characters using Poser. The rest of details were added manually with Painter.

I learned a lot in the process, including painting clothes, hair and clouds.

The result is not as good as I would have liked (I got a new found respect for realistically painted clothes !), but I am happy with it anyway.

Thanks for watching...

It's a copy of Gericault's work, obviously, with a few changes (like one body, which is male in the original, is female here), and less vigor in both the drawing and technique. As an exercise, it must have been useful, no doubt, but does it belong in the original art archive?

Good study. I like how it turned out. =]

Arenhaus - Agiel states clearly that it is after Gericault's work, which means he never claimed it to be original artwork. ;)

Arenhaus - Thanks for the comment. I never claimed this to be original. It was an exercise to see if I was capable of doing a scene of that size and I happened to be happy enough with the result to post it. Sorry... I didn't know I was supposed to post purely original work. Besides... I can garanty you that there is no female on that picture. The only notable change I made was the central character (bald) because I liked the way it came out.

YOu know, I can appreciate the hard work that it must of took to get the poser characters in place and looking as though they belong. I feel it would have been more impressive if you would have painted the actual characters instead of using Poser. So now that you completed your excersize, I would like to see something complete 2d and original from you. Still nice copy. :)

Interresting excersize. Since I have never worked with poser it would be interreting to me to know how many details you have added in Painter and how much time does it take.
